This course will consist of six modules as follows: (1) Introduction to leadership and team building (2) Vision and challenge model (3) Strategic leadership (4) Leading change (5) System thinking and (6) Ethics. Each of these topics are organized into a series of lectures presented in powerpoint, word and PDF format and are interspaced with audio, video, screen capture and narrated powerpoints. Links to other references for further readings are included at the end of every module.


This course focuses on leadership in public health. It is intended for students undertaking a masters program at the School of Public health. It looks at leadership in Academia, role of gender in relation to leadership and skills development.

Organizational Leadership and Management in Developing Countries is an interdisciplinary course which examines the complex challenges inherent in managing not-for-profit and governmental organizations in developing countries. Central to our examination is the role of social, political, and financial influences upon policy space. Within this context, the class focuses upon negotiating constraints in policy development and implementation and draws comparatively from experiences in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the United States.
